Estorick Gallery Trip
During the first half term our topic was 'Get Physical'. Part of this unit was learning to create art which showed movement. We had the wonderful opportunity of visiting the Estorick Gallery in Islington, where we explored art produced in Italy during the 19th century. The children absolutely loved the workshop where they learnt to draw with movement and also learnt how to see music and sound in artwork. See if you can see the music in the painting below.
In English this term we have written explanation texts and biographies. We invented our own treadmills that were powered by different animals and also created biographies about athletes we invented. We used text mapping to help us learn language structures which enabled us to produce some fantastic work. Come and have a look outside our classroom!
Science In Science this term we have been learning the about how the human body works. We carried out an investigation to find out if the length of your legs affect how far you can jump. What do you think? We also carried out an investigation into what foods contain fat. We did this by rubbing different foods onto sugar paper. If the paper turned translucent it meant that the food contained fat. We then wrote observations about what we saw.
Maths In Maths this term we have been mastering our understanding of place value and learning how to choose the best method to solve addition and subtraction problems. Below you can see photos of us playing a rounding game with dice. It was lots of fun and we learnt at the same time!
